About Me

It's a pleasure to meet you! I am a specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist practicing in North Sydney and the Sydney CBD. I completed my training at the Royal Hospital for Women, and completed a fellowship year in advanced laparoscopic and pelvic surgery through Sydney West Advanced Pelvic Surgery Unit.

As a father of two, I appreciate the joys of parenthood and the excitement of this special time. I also understand the anxieties around pregnancy and childbirth that prospective parents can feel. I strive to provide personalised care, focusing on the health, wishes, and individual needs of my patients. I will respect and value your autonomy throughout your pregnancy and birth.

As you know, this time can be very unpredictable and can bring unexpected challenges. As your obstetrician, I will be there to guide you through these challenges. To educate, advocate and provide exceptional healthcare, whatever the situation. I have extensive experience managing high-risk and complex pregnancies and births; as well as twins and multiples.

I have rooms in North Sydney and the Sydney CBD and work at Mater Hospital Sydney, North Shore Private Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, and Prince of Wales Private Hospital.

I am supported by an amazing team including midwives, lactation consultants, a physiotherapist, and administrative staff that keep everything running! Please take the time to get to know my team, below.

Michelle

Midwife

Michelle is a dedicated midwife with over 14 years experience in supporting women and their families through out their pregnancy, birth and postpartum journeys. Originally from Ireland, Michelle completed her bachelor of midwifery at University College Dublin. Her training was affiliated with the National Maternity Hospital, Dublin, where she gained invaluable experience caring for women and their babies throughout all aspects of midwifery care. Michelle moved to Sydney in 2014 and started working in the Mater Hospital. Michelle has worked alongside Dr Sean Burnet at the Mater and has been part of our clinic team since February 2023. Michelle is a proud mum of two little boys which enriches her understanding and empathy towards expectant families. She knows all too well the need for a good supportive team throughout the pregnancy and early parenthood journey and strives to meet her patients with support and compassion to make that journey a little bit easier. She enjoys the continuity in her role, meeting his patients at each antenatal appointment and is passionate in establishing a rapport with patients and their families.

Donnah

Midwife & Lactation Consultant

Donnah has over twenty years of healthcare experience. She commenced her nursing career in 2002 and completed her midwifery training in 2013. She is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She has worked in both the private and public sectors of the NSW health system with experience at Royal North Shore Hospital in general nursing and neonatal intensive care nursing; Royal Price Alfred hospital in high-risk pregnancy care; and the Mater Hospital in labour, birth and postnatal care. Donnah successfully completed the Midwifery Prescriber’s course in 2020. Donnah possesses a genuine desire to help others and has a keen interest in antenatal education. As an experienced midwife and the mother of three lively boys (including twins!), Donnah understands the excitement, worries and uncertainty associated with pregnancy, birth and early parenting and is always keen to share her knowledge and experience to assist others. Donnah has been part of Dr Sean’s obstetrics team for 10 years, providing professional and specialised care for our patients. Eva

Women's Health Physiotherapist

Eva has 20 years experience as a physiotherapist and has been a Clinical Lead Maternity Physiotherapist at The Mater Hospital since 2014. She specialises in supporting women during their pregnancy and postnatal journey. Eva also has many years experience treating a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions including spinal pain (lower back, thoracic and neck), pelvis and hip conditions. She treats holistically to ensure the source of the pain or dysfunction is identified and managed, not just the symptoms. She sees the beneficial impact expert physiotherapy advice for movement and postural re-education and muscle strengthening has in making the daily lives of women easier and more enjoyable.  Eva is also a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. She teaches parents and caregivers how to massage their babies to tap into the huge range of benefits for both the baby and parent. Outside of work, Eva is a mum to 3 girls and enjoys spending time with family and friends; being involved in her family's school, church and extra-curricular programs; and training for her next triathlon.   Please contact our reception team to book an appointment with Eva.

Shion

Receptionist

Shion has been part of Dr Sean's administrative team since 2020 and loves being the first friendly face patients see. With a background in classical music and early childhood education, she loves connecting with people and watching families grow. As a mum of two, she knows the importance of feeling supported and helps keep things running smoothly for patients, Dr. Sean, and the team. She loves meeting women from all walks of life and having a good chat along the way!
